Honors, Awards, and Competitions

Ridgewood students participate in many academic competitions related to Writing, Science, and Math, including:

ยป Young Authors Writing Contest (grades 3 through 6).

ยป Daughters of the American Revolution [DAR] Essay Contest (grades 5 through 7).

ยป Geography Bee (grades 4 through 8).

ยป Spelling Bee (grades 4 through 8).

ยป Power of the Pen (grades 7 and 8).

ยป Science Fair (grades 5 through 8).

Ridgewood School prides itself on the accomplishments of our students, alumni, and faculty. Students excel academically and in extracurricular activities, both within our walls and within our community.

ยป Over the past several years, Ridgewood has produced many local Valedictorians and Salutatorians.

ยป Our students (grades 1-8) routinely test two grade levels above their current grade placement.

ยป Our students consistently earn Superior Ratings at county, district, and state Science Fairs.

ยป Since 2002, our Science Olympiad team has placed twice in the top 10 teams in the state of Ohio, and over 60 students have placed in local, district, and regional competitions.

ยป Our students compete in and win Spelling, History, and Geography Bees. Since 1995, five Ridgewood students have competed at the district level, five students have competed at the State level, and two have competed at the National level.

ยป Since 1998, over 60 students have competed at the regional level and ten have competed at the State level of Power of the Pen.

ยป Since 1997, over 35 Ridgewood students have won regional essay competitions sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

ยป Ridgewood was recognized as a Thomas Edison Award Winner for excellence in STEM education in 2012 and 2014.
