August Events

» Students collected school supplies to donate to Rocking Horse. They also worked at Project Woman to help organize their donation room and take extra donations to the Nearly New Store.
» Students made macrame basket holders for the Zero Waste Store at Alcony Weavers. Thank you to Mrs. Smith who donated supplies and helped guide the students through the process.

September Events

Pastries with Parents on Friday, September 2nd and 9th
Pastries with juice and coffee will be served to families between 7:25 and 8 a.m.

Zero Waste Store at the Hatch
Open on Friday, September 2nd from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
The store is run by Ridgewood students and sells environmentally friendly items that promote reduce, reuse, and recycle.  Items like wool dryer balls, soy candles, refurbished golf balls (found in the land lab), homemade and painted birdhouses which use excess lumber, bamboo toothbrushes and straws, reusable cloths, water bottles, and more. Profits from the store are used to purchase new items and to donate to the Student Council charities of the month.

Sports Leagues
┬╗ Frisbee Golf League, followed by Baseball League and then Football League.
» Students in 5th-8th grade will also have the chance to take part in the start of the News Bowl challenge. The 6th-8th graders can also sign up to play Fantasy Football and Mathematics. Students pick NFL players and use mathematical formulas to calculate total points each week.
┬╗ Run Club (run by Mr. Sauter and Mrs. Keriazes) will also be available to students in September on Mondays.

Volunteering
Students will be volunteering at the Food Bank on September 8th, at a mobile pantry on September 10th, at Project Woman on September 15th.┬áOn September 30th, they will also be organizing an AlzheimerÔÇÖs Walk at Ridgewood School to raise money for the AlzheimerÔÇÖs Association.┬áThe students will make a promise garden that features hand painted flowers and collects donations for the cause.

Gardening Projects
The 8th graders and Student Council members will be making products for the FarmerÔÇÖs Market on Saturday, September 24th as well as the Alumni Dinner that night and the Fall Fest the next day. Mrs. Prince will be helping the students with garden projects. On the 24th, Ridgewood will have a table at the FarmerÔÇÖs Market that will feature those items.

Elections
5th-8th grade students will be making speeches and voting for Student Council representatives as well as officer positions during the first full week of school. That week they will also be picking the little sisters and brothers and making cards to introduce themselves.
